Award Winning Engagement at Ashford

Ashford Borough Council has won an award at the prestigious national Engagement Excellence Awards, held at the Guildhall in London.

The Awards celebrate excellence in employee engagement and Ashford Borough Council was one of only a few local authorities to be shortlisted against national and global brands such as Samsung, Morrison’s Supermarket, Domino’s Pizza Group, Travis Perkins, Wyevale Garden Centres and Transport for London.

The Kent authority won ‘Engagement team of the year’ (up against Hertfordshire County Council, Iforce, Oliver Bonas and Snc-lavalin). It was also shortlisted for ‘Best business strategy’ and ‘Engagement leader of the year’.

The council was praised for its enthusiasm and commitment to staff engagement; specifically how it communicates and raises awareness within its workforce. This is the third year the council has been successful at the event.

The judging panel consisted of 24 Human Resources and Reward leaders from companies all around the UK.

Cllr Alan Pickering, Portfolio Holder for HR and Customer Services said:

“We are thrilled that Ashford Borough Council has been recognised for commitment to staff engagement.

Being shortlisted for three awards is a reflection of our hard work and dedication in creating a workforce that is both motivated and productive. This is crucial in helping us achieve our ambitions on behalf of the borough and our residents.”
