Development Update sees real progress

With the first of the ‘Big 8’ projects having now been delivered (Ashford College) and construction work well underway at both Elwick Place and the Commercial Quarter it might be easy to lose track of all the new developments in the borough.

It is therefore timely that the latest development update has been published which provides residents with a summary of the progress of major developments across the town centre, urban and rural sites.

The update also explains the latest position on the Local Plan to 2030 and the Neighbourhood Plans for both Pluckley and Bethersden.

As well as the latest on the aforementioned projects the easy-to-read document contains details of the major planning applications and developments for which planning applications have been received and permissions granted since the last update in October 2016.

These include the former Powergen site on Victoria Road, Chapel Down Brewery, Cheeseman’s Green (Finberry), Repton Park and a host of rural sites including Biddenden, Shadoxhurst, Wye and Tenterden.

Cllr Paul Clokie, Ashford Borough Council’s portfolio holder for planning and development said: “The development update is a useful guide for residents and businesses to be able to see exactly the progress being made on major sites in their borough.

“It is vital that the planning process is transparent as Ashford continues to grow and we seek to deliver economic investment and quality housing and homes for all.”
