Quinn Estates and Oxford-based developer GRE Assets working together to regenerate Victoria Way

The multi-million-pound development, named Riverside Park, is GRE Asset’s first major scheme in Ashford and underlines their complete confidence in the local residential market. The development will deliver 235 apartments and 26 riverside houses finished to a very high specification.

Being the former Powergen brownfield site GRE Assets relied on the expertise and considerable experience of Quinn Estates to overcome the many challenges to fully remediate the site ready for development. In fact, this partnership has continued to the extent that Quinn Estates have been commissioned to deliver the whole development. Credit must also go to the award-winning Kent based architects, Guy Hollaway, whose design transformed this previously derelict site.

GRE Assets, represented by Directors Andrew Lock and Tom Brosnan, together with Mark Quinn, Chairman of Quinn Estates, recently took an opportunity to show the site to Tracey Kerly CEO of Ashford Borough Council and Councillor Graham Galpin of Ashford Borough Council. This was an opportunity for the development team to say how pleased they were to be in Ashford and to thank Ashford Borough Council for their professional and helpful attitude in the successful delivery of this important development.

Mark Quinn, of Quinn Estates, said:

“Riverside Park is an exceptional development that is already contributing to the success of Ashford. We are really proud to be delivering such a well-designed scheme that works and brings forward this long-standing brownfield site - providing outstanding houses and apartments in the town centre, right by the train station with its excellent links to the capital.

“The success of a town is often symbolised by the number of cranes on its skyline. With our development at the Ashford Commercial Quarter and now at Riverside Park, we are working with the council to deliver on its growth vision. Both of these schemes are being managed by and worked on by Ashford residents - an example of how development contributes to the economic wellbeing of an area from the very start.”

Tracey Kerly, of Ashford Borough Council, said:

“This is a key town centre project, which has positively drawn the attention of both residents and businesses alike. With an exceptional design by Guy Hollaway Architects, the buildings have added to the Ashford skyline and complement what Ashford Borough Council is doing with the Big 8 projects. Ashford continues to be a real draw for the very best commercial enterprises and remains the obvious choice for expanding, thriving and established businesses.”

Andrew Lock, of GRE Assets, said:

“We were attracted to Ashford for a number of reasons, not least because of its exceptional location and connections to London. But as important was Ashford’s successful thriving local economy and the ambitious Borough Council’s exciting regeneration plans. Finally, the opportunity to work with Mark Quinn and his team at Quinn Estates was something we could not say no to.”

GRE’s previous investments include apartments in Brighton Marina, London Stratford, Manchester and Reading. Quinn Estates are also developing elsewhere in Ashford. ACQ ONE, the biggest new commercial development in Kent for 20 years, will open in May 2018.
