Ashford business uses Council funding to finance money saving solar panels
Posted on 27 June 2024We are delighted to see Ashford Instrumentation Ltd utilising Ashford’s Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF) to finance a set of solar panels for their warehouse.
Since installation, Ashford Instrumentation Ltd stated it had more than halved its electricity usage within April and May. In addition, the company replaced a vehicle for an electric alternative, as well as purchasing a new Plug-in Hybrid due to the reduction in charging costs with the panels.
By using solar power, the company is not only cutting energy expenses but also reducing its carbon footprint and that of the wider Ashford Borough.
This is an excellent example of how the Ashford business community is proactively addressing climate change. We hope this will inspire and encourage other businesses to explore this opportunity and follow suit.
The initial round of REPF Green Grants has already led to a reduction of 26,000 kg of CO2 emissions.
We have already seen The Range in Ashford set an example in energy efficiency by installing 40MW of solar panels across their properties.
This all links into Ashford Borough Council’s Climate Change plan, which supports increased generation of renewable energy and the use of low-carbon technologies.
