Ashford businesses to supply catering at Council events
Posted on 2 January 2025Great news for local hospitality businesses as Ashford Borough Council will now ensure that catering provided at Civic meetings and receptions are sourced from local producers wherever possible.
We all know Ashford is home to excellent local produce; from its award-winning vineyards and Michelin star restaurants, to businesses which have supplied Downing Street with catering and farms with A Royal Warrant of Appointment which provide produce to the Royal household.
When providing catering at Council meetings, food and drink will be purchased from suppliers with a National Food Hygiene Rating score of Five - very good.

The policy (which will last until 2028) was adopted at December’s cabinet meeting and is an excellent example of the Council leading the way in supporting our hospitality offer local food and drink businesses.
The Council already has a role in supporting local producers where it can through the ‘Experience Ashford and Tenterden’ campaign and its grant programmes. By using local produce at council meetings and receptions, it continues to extend this support.
