The Wine GB Awards is the major competition for Great Britain’s wines and wine producers. so it is fantastic to see various vineyards from Kent receiving well-deserved recognition.
Out of the 19 vineyards from Kent, eight belonged to the Ashford Borough (42% of the total).
Overall, Kent vineyards won an impressive 71 trophies and medals, and Ashford vineyards claimed 33 (almost half!) of the awards at 47%.
The Ashford winners were:
- Chapel Down in Tenterden secured 2 Trophies, 2 gold medals, 5 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals.
- Westwell Wines claimed 1 trophy and 1 silver medal.
- Gusbourne in Appledore attained 2 gold medals, 5 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal.
- Wayfarer Wines in Woodchurch earned 1 gold medal and 1 silver medal.
- Biddenden Vineyards received 1 silver medal.
- Brabourne Vineyard was awarded 1 bronze medal.
- Nine Oaks Vineyard in Hothfield was honoured with 3 bronze medals.

it is excellent to see several of these award-winning vineyards, including Chapel Down, Gusbourne, Westwell and Biddenden, were all featured in this year’s Wine Garden of England Tasting Evening event, hosted by Love Ashford as part of the Ashford Food and Drink Festival.
The vineyards had the opportunity to showcase their wine as part of the tasting evening as well as sell their bottles to guests.
