The Ashford Cinema
The Ashford Cinema the former Picturehouse at Elwick Place opened its doors to visitors in April 2024. The cinema originally opened in December 2018 and was part of the first phase of Elwick Place, Ashford’s entertainment and leisure hub.
When built, the cinema was a bold, new offering for Ashford residents and cinema fans. It remains a convenient venue to watch the latest new film release, to work from, catch up with friends over a coffee, or host an event.
The Ashford Cinema is your local six-screen cinema, café, workspace and bar. Located at Elwick Place, in the heart of Ashford, our space is open to everyone to meet, eat, watch, and explore.
Ben Hammond, General Manager at Ashford Picturehouse
Community is central to everything The Ashford Cinema does – local groups are encouraged to make use of the space. The upcoming transformation will have plenty of exciting offers and events to appeal to a more family friendly and local community audience. It offers sensory screenings for children and adults, increasing the accessibility to all residents.
General Manager of The Ashford Cinema, Ben Hammond was born and raised in the town. He moved back six years ago after living in Central London and found the town was unrecognisable to the one he left behind.
He said: “It’s clear to see from the outside looking in and from living in the town, Ashford really is growing at a huge rate. There is substantial interest and investment from the local council, who have some really exciting projects, which are great to be part of. I think this growth will continue and the town will transform again – it’s all very positive.”
The Ashford Cinema is part of a bigger story in Ashford and is joined by other entertainment and leisure developments including Curious Brewery and the Ashford Designer Outlet.
